Operational Precautions

 

A surface grinder is an assembly of numerous components. During the manufacturing process, it is essential to ensure that the rotational direction of the lapping bar aligns with the operational rotational direction of the grinding wheel spindle. This alignment facilitates the rapid flow of self-priming oil through the radial clearance during operation, thereby forming an oil wedge; this, in turn, improves operational performance and helps prevent deviations in the manufactured products.

 

During the lapping process on a surface grinder, attention must be paid to the following four points:

 

1. Throughout the lapping process, continuously and gradually tighten the front and rear bearings (maintaining a consistent tactile feel) to enhance lapping efficiency and ensure the geometric precision of the bearings.

2. Promptly remove any excess lapping compound from the ends of the bearings to prevent the front and rear bearings from developing a "flared" or bell-mouthed profile.

3. During the final stage of lapping, use the minimum amount of lapping compound possible and appropriately tighten the front and rear bearings to ensure their ultimate geometric precision.

4. After lapping for a specific duration, withdraw the lapping bar and remove all lapping compound from both the bar and the front and rear bearings. Inspect the lapping results and check the lapping bar for any signs of wear; if wear is detected on the bar, it must be trued (dressed) to ensure the dimensional consistency of the front and rear bearing bores.

5. Every piece of equipment requires specific precautions during the manufacturing process, and the surface grinder is no exception. Only by strictly observing the four points outlined above during surface grinding operations can the full production potential of the machine be realized, thereby ensuring the manufacture of qualified products.
